I found a fabulous group writing project for moms. There’s even a prize! The topic is “three things I want my kids to …” You fill in the blank. This post is my entry to that project.
1. I want my kids to experience the joy of a relationship with their Maker — to find the peace and contentment that comes with that relationship. God will be with them when I can’t be. It’s an awesome feeling to know that you can approach the Creator with your thoughts and questions.
2. I want my kids to know that I love them — always and unconditionally, no matter what. Life is hard, but I want to be that one person who is always on their side. I know that I can’t always be there for them, but I can always root for them. They are in my heart and always will be.
3. I want my kids to make wise decisions — to think through their choices and to take responsibility for their actions. A well-considered decision is better than acting on impulse. Too many people make mistakes with far-reaching consequences by acting without thinking. Yet, I don’t want them to be afraid to make mistakes because it is through our mistakes that we learn.
Thanks to MamaBlogga for making me think through my priorities for my kids again.

Thank you for this entry! I was thinking that my t0p three priorities would be almost identical to these.
Thanks for participating!

I am working on #2 during the times when I am really, really angry with something they’ve done!

Hi Jordan! I’m glad you liked the priorities. I really do think that they are the most important things that I want my kids to know. At least, I couldn’t think of anything else.
Hi Kate! I totally understand what you’re saying about wanting your kids to know that you love them when you’re angry with them.

I’ve explained how to add the little reviewme guy, just for you.

Thanks Eliza! It’s really great to have friends in the blogosphere.
The little ReviewMe guy belongs on my other blog, http://www.writingthoughts.com, since that’s the blog I submitted to ReviewMe. I’ll try to get him up a little later.

Wise decisions: yes, I hope my children will learn to make those. I still wonder if my decisions are wise. I hope I can be a good role model in this way.

Oh yes, taking responsibility for their actions. Definitely a good one to teach. Seems like so many like to place the blame elsewhere!
Great entry!

Hi Daisy! Yeah, I find the wise decisions one a little sobering. But, it is something I want my kids to understand.
Hi Karen! You’re right! Too many people blame anybody and everybody for their own decisions.

Great post! #3 is so true. We want our children to always make wise descisions and never have troubles in life. And yet, I know that I have grown the most from the mistakes I’ve made. I know that, someday, when my daughters are older, it will be very hard to let them make their own mistakes and grow.

Hi Kasie! I know from my own parents that even when the kids are gone, they still worried about them. I don’t think parenting is ever a worry-free business.
